An angler was approached recently on York waters by a Bailiff who also asked to see the anglers Environment Agency Licence to fish. The angler said he was not allowed to do this. In the 2019 book of Amalgamation Rules, under “membership permits” it clearly states “Club Bailiffs and all other members (on production of their own licence and permit) are authorised to check the EA licence and proof of identity of any angler fishing club/fishery waters”. Failure to provide either could lead to expulsion from the club/fishery. Therefore, it is essential that you carry the correct documentation each time you go fishing.
