Red House Lagoon

Members will be interested to know that an application to re-rent the lagoon and associated river fishery (conducted over many months) has now met with a refusal. It appears that Yorkshire Water have plans in hand for environmental concerns on the area and a possible creation of a ‘wildlife’ park.

In this respect they have asked that the membership be advised that no fishing will be allowed on the lagoon or river frontage as it is not compatible with their proposed usage.

Therefore, access to Red House (middle section), from the paddock down to Killingbeck, is either a long walk from Poppleton, or with very restricted access from Red House Lane (where nobody wants us to park) an equally difficult walk.
