Howsham Fishery

The owner of Fowberry Alpacas has again contacted us observing that fishermen have been illegally using their “Private” stretch and ‘digging out’ pegs. The latest anglers claimed that York holds the fishing rights from Howsham through to Kirkham. This is not the case, we have from Kirkham to the weir, then from the field below the weir to opposite Howsham Hall, then from Howsham falls to Barton Hill Beck, the piece from opposite the Hall to the falls at Howsham being privately owned. Members are asked to respect this private fishing. “End of fishing” notices are to be erected at the end of each of our waters. Any angler reported to be fishing the private stretch will be subject to investigation.
