York Amalgamation of Anglers has recently taken a big step in improving access to one of its premier still waters at Burn Road Pond near Selby. With funding support from the ANGLING TRUST the existing access from the road and the gate has been re-positioned to be to be more user friendly and the car park area enlarged and improved. Stone footpaths have been constructed and a number of platforms have been improved to enable the less mobile to gain better access to this cracking little water.
A lock will be added to the gate to improve security and prevent fly tipping which has in the past been an issue at this renowned fishery which contains good stocks of bream, tench and roach. It fishes well in warm weather and has three different colours of lilies yellow, white and purple. A real gem!
This is just one of the many improvements to fisheries undertaken by YDAA this year with more planned in the very near future.
